Best Birthday Ever!

Why is it that when you're waiting in it always ends up being the latest possible delivery time? I spent most of today running to the window every time I heard anything that sounded like a Parcel Force van.

Anyway at 4pm it arrived, my brand spanking new Cervelo P2. Now I know ‘Its not about the bike’ but this will be the first bike I’ve

had custom fitted. I enjoyed riding my Ribble Aero TT but found that it was far too aggressive to ride comfortably over 180k. If I’m being honest I’ve never really committed myself enough to prepare sufficiently for the Iron-

man bike split I know that I have in me. Riding 5:13 in Switzerland off the back of piss poor preparation certainly makes me confident of a 5hr spilt on the right course.

So the plan for now is keep ticking over with one 3-4 hr ride on the winter bike

(Ribble audax) and one turbo session (about an hour) just getting familiar with the new bike each week. Come New Year a 90min turbo, building to 2hrs will be a key weekly session, getting my l

egs used to turning that big chainring.

Katie (the wife) now says I have no more excuses. I’d agree but can’t help thinking those with a disc wheel have a slight advantage
